Professor Azadeh Fatehrad is a Professor of Art and Public Policy at Teesside University, leading the Empowered and Inclusive Places initiative at the People and Place Research Centre. Her interdisciplinary work bridges public policy, ethnography, and artistic practice, focusing on migrant integration and community cohesion through nature-based approaches. She holds a practice-based PhD from the Royal College of Art and has conducted projects across Europe and the Middle East.
Research interests include participatory aesthetics, diasporic spaces, and eco-social perspectives. Key projects include the Nature-Based Integration Project (funded by British Academy and Nuffield Foundation) and exhibitions such as 'Natural Bonds' and 'Roots and Wings.'
Awarded fellowships at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI), Warburg Institute, and St John’s College, Oxford. Her curatorial work has been featured globally, including at the Royal Academy of Art and Somerset House. She co-founded the feminist media archive network Herstoriographies and contributes to MAI: Feminism & Visual Culture.
