Prof. Nashwan Dawood is a Professor and Research Director at Teesside University's Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre and School of Computing, Engineering and Digital Technologies (SCEDT). He serves as Associate Dean for Research & Innovation, focusing on advancing research culture, decarbonization strategies, and industry collaboration. His work emphasizes sustainable engineering, digital construction technologies, and BIM integration.
Research Interests: Construction management, sustainability, BIM technologies, 5D modeling, virtual reality applications, energy efficiency in buildings, and risk management in heavy civil engineering. He leads major EU H2020 projects and has secured over £7 million in grants from diverse funders.
Awards: Shortlisted for the Constructing Excellence Innovation Award. Key contributions include advancing digital twins, blockchain in construction, and net-zero solutions for industrial clusters.
Grants & Projects: Coordinates the £5M EU H2020 DR-BoB project, led the IDEAS project (€4M), and oversees initiatives like the Tees Valley Hydrogen Economy Transition. Collaborates internationally with institutions in South Korea, Japan, Qatar, and the U.S.
Advising: Supervised over 27 PhD students and led 12 supervised works. Active in knowledge transfer partnerships (KTPs) and industry collaborations.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Centre for Sustainable Engineering and contributes to the Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre, driving interdisciplinary research in decarbonization and smart energy systems.
