Jeanine Braithwaite is a Lecturer at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia. Previously, she served as a Professor of Public Policy and has extensive experience in international development, social protection, and poverty analysis.

Research Interests
Braithwaite specializes in social protection policy, poverty analysis, and the impact of HIV/AIDS on orphans in Southern Africa. Her work focuses on quantifying child poverty, evaluating government transfers, and addressing multidimensional deprivation in developing economies.
Scientific Awards
- Vice Presidential Unit Team Award (World Bank) for contributions to the Sudan Family Support Project.
Teaching & Operational Experience
Braithwaite teaches courses in international development policy, macroeconomic policy, and applied policy analysis. She has operational experience in 14+ countries, including Turkey, Russia, and Sudan, and has collaborated with institutions like the World Bank, IMF, and universities in Senegal and South Africa.
