Jeanel Little

Jeanel Little is an academic faculty member at the University of Virginia School of Nursing, serving as the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner specialty coordinator and holding a joint position as a UVA Health nurse practitioner in the Medical ICU. She is a long-time single-course faculty member, guest lecturer, and mentor, with involvement in advanced practice provider orientation committees at UVA Health. Her practice focuses on ICU care, sleep quality interventions, and nurse practitioner education.

Education: Alumna of the School of Nursing, holding both a Master’s and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees. Research interests include improving clinical outcomes in critical care settings through evidence-based practices. She has contributed to peer-reviewed literature, including a 2025 publication in Critical Care Nurse exploring sleep-promoting schedules in ICUs.

Advising and mentorship: Preceptor to over a dozen nurse practitioner students and three fellows. Active in orientation programs for new nurse practitioners at UVA Health’s MICU and Culpeper campus. Committed to advancing nursing education and clinical practice through collaborative initiatives.
