Jean Andino is an Associate Professor at Arizona State University (ASU), affiliated with the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy and the Center for Negative Carbon Emissions. She holds the title of Senior Global Futures Scholar at the Global Futures Scientists and Scholars initiative. Her research focuses on chemical kinetics applied to air quality, environmental chemistry, and energy systems, with a strong emphasis on pollution control technologies and carbon conversion. Dr. Andino earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Engineering Sciences from Harvard University.
Her career includes tenured faculty roles at the University of Florida and prior work at Ford Motor Company. Notable awards include the NSF CAREER Award, Fulbright Scholar recognition, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers STAR Educator of the Year (2017). She leads major initiatives like the Southwest Integrated Field Lab (DoE-funded) and Indoor Air Pollution Control for Resilience (EPA-funded). Additionally, she directs the LSAMP Western Alliance to Expand Student Opportunities (NSF-funded), promoting STEM inclusion.
Dr. Andino’s research spans atmospheric chemistry, photocatalytic materials for air quality, and resilient infrastructure. Her work integrates fundamental science with practical applications, such as developing sensors for air pollutants and advancing carbon sequestration technologies. She actively engages in educational outreach, mentoring students from diverse backgrounds through her research group and funded programs.
