معرفی
Dr. Pawel Misztal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, with a courtesy appointment in Psychology. His research focuses on indoor environmental quality, chemical exposure assessment, and novel air quality measurement techniques. He leads the Misztal Lab, which investigates volatile organic compounds (VOCs), microbiome-chemical interactions, and engineering solutions for sustainable buildings.
Education:
- PostDoc, University of California at Berkeley (Environmental Science, Policy & Management, 2015)
- Ph.D., The University of Edinburgh (Chemistry, 2010)
- M.S., Maria Curie-Sklodowska University (Chemistry, 2003)
- B.S., Maria Curie-Sklodowska University (Chemistry & Physics, 2001)
Research Interests:
- Chemical exposures and occupant health
- Novel air quality measurements
- Human volatile biomarkers
- VOC and aerosol dynamics
- Microbiome chemistry
- Indoor/outdoor environmental linkages
Labs & Teams: The Misztal Lab collaborates across disciplines, including civil engineering, psychology, and environmental science. Current projects address disinfectant byproducts, oil/gas emissions, and community-driven air quality solutions. The lab supports 10+ graduate/undergraduate researchers, with alumni in academia and industry.
Advising & Grants: Dr. Misztal mentors students in environmental engineering, chemistry, and psychology. His lab has received funding from NSF, EPA, and industry partners to develop low-cost sensors and investigate indoor/outdoor pollution interactions.
