Jenna Ditto is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis's McKelvey School of Engineering. She joined the faculty in January 2023 and leads the Ditto Research Group focused on urban indoor/outdoor air quality linkages. Her work integrates laboratory and field mass spectrometry techniques to study organic gases, aerosols, and their health/environmental impacts.
- Education: PhD (Yale 2020), MS (Yale 2017), BS (Brown 2015)
- Postdoc: University of Toronto (Chemical Engineering/Chemistry)
Research emphasizes: 1) Building-indoor/outdoor pollution interactions, 2) Human activity environmental footprints, 3) Health consequences of chemical exposures. Uses advanced analytical chemistry tools like GC-MS and PTR-MS to develop mitigation strategies. Collaborates across engineering, chemistry, and public health disciplines.
Recent work highlights data-driven approaches to air quality (TRIADS seed grant), novel VOC monitoring methods, and public engagement in exposure reduction. Active in professional societies, having received the 2019 Wagner Award and participated in the 16th ACCESS colloquium.
