Dr. Nusrat Jung is an Assistant Professor in Architectural Engineering at Purdue University's Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering. She leads research on indoor air quality, focusing on real-time sensing platforms for evaluating building emissions and ventilation strategies. Her work includes developing the zEDGE Test House and Purdue's ASHRAE 52.2 filter testing rig. She holds a D.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Aalto University (2018) and mentors students in instrumentation and systems engineering. Research interests span VOC/particle emissions, HVAC system optimization, and sensor-based diagnostics.
Education: D.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Aalto University (2012–2018), supported by an Academy of Finland Fellowship. Teaching includes courses like Architectural Engineering Fundamentals (CE 31101) and BIM for High-Performance Buildings (CE 51901). She advises graduate students on topics like volatile chemical emissions and building disinfection impacts. Editorial roles include Early Career Board Member for Indoor Environments and Board Member for Discover Atmosphere.
Key research infrastructure includes the zEDGE Test House and field-based sensing networks. Projects address gaps in indoor air quality measurement, linking ventilation design, filtration strategies, and public health outcomes.
