Jayma M. Meyer serves as Visiting Clinical Professor at Indiana University's Paul H. O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and Adjunct Professor at the Maurer School of Law. Teaching Sports Law and Public Policy at O'Neill since 2015 and Sports Law at Maurer starting in 2025, she consults with sports organizations and government officials on college athlete issues while advocating for gender equality and integrity in sports through litigation and education.
Her academic credentials include:
- J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center
- B.S. with high distinction from Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs
Meyer's research centers on sports law with expertise in Title IX compliance, antitrust challenges in intercollegiate athletics, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights. She investigates gender equity, ethical dilemmas, and sexual assault prevention in sports, promoting systemic reform through legal scholarship that balances athlete compensation with academic integrity.
Her publications from 1994-2022 reveal evolving focus from foundational antitrust concepts to contemporary college sports issues, with recent work analyzing NIL compensation frameworks, Title IX proportionality tests, and NCAA governance reforms addressing athlete welfare and gender equity.
Meyer's professional recognition includes:
- New York Super Lawyer in Antitrust and Women Lawyers
- Distinguished Alumni Award from O'Neill School (2014)
- Indiana University Bicentennial Medal (2020)
- Distinguished Alumni Service Award from IU (2023)
While mentoring students in sports law courses, specific graduate advisees aren't documented. Her pro bono litigation for high school girls' athletics and board service constitute significant non-grant contributions to sports policy reform.
Meyer actively shapes sports governance through leadership roles including Sports Lawyers Association Board Chair (Time for IX Initiative), Emeritus positions at National Women's Law Center and Women's Sports Foundation, and advisory roles with Concussion Legacy Foundation and FAIR Sports.
