Javier Marcelo Di Noia is a Full Professor at the Department of Medicine, University of Montreal, and leads the Genetic Diversity Mechanisms Research Unit at the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM). He holds adjunct professorships at McGill University’s Department of Medicine and Microbiology and Immunology. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of antibody gene diversification driven by the enzyme Activation-induced Deaminase (AID), DNA repair pathways in germinal center B cells, and their roles in immune pathologies and cancer.
Dr. Di Noia received his PhD in Biology from the University of Buenos Aires (2000) and trained at the Medical Research Council in Cambridge, UK (2001-2006). He held the Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Genetic Diversity (2008-2018) and is a FRQS Research Fellow (2019-2023).
- Research Themes: Antibody Diversification, DNA Repair, AID Enzyme Function, Germinal Center Dynamics, Lymphoma Pathogenesis.
- Methodology: Molecular and cellular biology, immunology, mouse models.
Recent Publications explore AID’s role in class switch recombination, DNA repair enzymes like UNG and PRMT5, and mechanisms balancing antibody diversity with pathogenic risks.
Scientific Awards:
- Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Genetic Diversity (2008-2018)
- FRQS Research Fellow (2019-2023)
- CIHR New Investigator (2008)
