Jason Tanksley (he/him/his) is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Music at St. Olaf College, where he serves as Instructor of Tuba. A dynamic tubist and educator, he has performed with prestigious orchestras such as The Cleveland Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, and Kennedy Center Honors Orchestra, while championing inclusivity in classical music through performances and mentorship. His dedication to emerging musicians includes collaborations with the St. Olaf Band and Faculty Brass Quintet.
Education:
- Master of Music from Cleveland Institute of Music (studied with Yasuhito Sugiyama)
- Bachelor's degree from Wayne State University (studied under Dennis Nulty)
Jason’s research and artistic work focus on expanding the tuba’s role in classical and cross-genre contexts, creating accessible musical spaces, and delivering educational concerts statewide. His collaborations span Arabic music, hip hop, and contemporary compositions like Jennifer Jolley’s Dusk.
Scientific Awards & Honors:
