Jason Peters is a Professor at Hillsdale College, joining in 2021 after 25 years at Augustana College, where he held the Dorothy J. Parkander Professorship in Literature. He specializes in literary criticism, agrarianism, and American literature, with notable works including The Culinary Plagiarist and edited volumes on Wendell Berry and agrarian themes. Peters holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University (1994), an M.A. (1989), and a B.A. from Calvin College (1986).
His research explores intersections of literature, religion, and environmental ethics, with a focus on figures like Wendell Berry, Flannery O’Connor, and T.S. Eliot. As editor-in-chief of Local Culture: A Journal of the Front Porch Republic and co-editor of Front Porch Republic Books, he advocates for localized, agrarian-centric discourse.
