Larry P. Arnn is the twelfth president of Hillsdale College and a Professor of History and Politics. He earned a B.A. in Political Science and Accounting from Arkansas State University (1974), an M.A. (1976) and Ph.D. (1985) in Government from Claremont Graduate School, and conducted research at the London School of Economics and Worcester College, Oxford University. His academic leadership includes directing research for Winston Churchill's official biographer, Sir Martin Gilbert.
Research Focus: Dr. Arnn's expertise spans political theory, constitutional governance, historical analysis of Winston Churchill, education evolution, and public policy. His publications critically examine the foundations of American liberty, constitutional integrity, and Churchill's leadership during crises.
Awards & Honors:
- Bradley Prize (2015) for contributions to public policy
- Outstanding Civilian Service Medal, U.S. Army (2010)
Academic Leadership: Under his presidency, Hillsdale College launched the Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship, the Kirby Center for Constitutional Studies, the Barney Charter School Initiative, and the Hoogland Center for Teacher Excellence. He oversees the Churchill Documents project, extending the official biography of Winston Churchill to 31 volumes.
Professional Affiliations: Board member of the Heritage Foundation, Henry Salvatori Center, and Intercollegiate Studies Institute; vice chairman of the Claremont Institute; member of the American Political Science Association and International Churchill Society.
