Jason Peters

Jason Peters is an Assistant Professor in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Division at the School of Pharmacy, University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on applying bacterial genetics to address critical issues in the bioeconomy and antimicrobial resistance through innovative CRISPR-based functional genomics approaches.

Dr. Peters' research interests encompass bacterial genetics, CRISPR technology development, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, bioeconomy applications, microbial biofuels production, and genetic engineering. His lab specializes in developing CRISPR tools for exploration of gene function in bioenergy-relevant alpha-Proteobacteria (such as Zymomonas mobilis) and antibiotic resistant ESKAPE pathogens (particularly Acinetobacter baumannii).
