Jesus Aranda Rodriguez

Jesus Aranda Rodriguez is a researcher at the Department of Genetics and Microbiology at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). He leads the Grup de Recerca Microbiologia Molecular and specializes in bacterial pathogenesis, focusing on Acinetobacter baumannii and Streptococcus suis. His work addresses antimicrobial resistance, virulence mechanisms, and molecular pathways in infectious agents.

Education:

• Doctoral thesis (2008): Caracterización de los sistemas de captación de zinc y de hierro en Streptococcus suis (directed by J. Barbé García and M. Llagostera Casas).

Research Interests:

• Study of bacterial virulence factors, such as twitching motility and surface-associated behaviors in Acinetobacter.
• Antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, including efflux pumps and sRNA regulation.
• Zinc and iron acquisition pathways in pathogens like Streptococcus suis.
