Dr. Jason McNulty is a Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of St Andrews, School of Chemistry. He holds roles such as School Director of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), LGBTQI+ Champion, Co-Director of Wellbeing, and member of Ethics and Outreach committees. His academic journey includes an MChem and PhD at St Andrews, followed by postdoctoral research under Prof. Philip Lightfoot (2018-2021). He joined the faculty in 2021 as an Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) and became a Lecturer in 2022.
Teaching responsibilities span sub-honours to honours levels, including modules like CH3514 (Physical Inorganic Chemistry), CH4514 (Advanced Metal Chemistry), and CH4455 (Distance Learning). He coordinates CH2501, CH4421, and CH4514, and contributes to tutorials and lab demonstrations.
Research interests focus on structure-property relationships in materials such as tungsten bronzes and layered perovskites, with emphases on ferroelectricity, crystallography, and phase transitions. His work bridges inorganic chemistry and materials science, exploring novel hybrid materials and their functional properties.
Publications highlight studies on perovskite structures, ferroelectric domains, and organic templating in materials. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals like Advanced Materials, Chemical Communications, and Acta Crystallographica.
No scientific awards are listed, but his contributions to EDI and pedagogy reflect institutional commitment. His advising and grants are not detailed, though his research aligns with ongoing material science advancements.
