University of St Andrewsمعرفی
Dr Bela Ernest Bode is a Reader in the School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews. He joined the faculty in 2011 as an EaStCHEM Hirst Fellow, later becoming a lecturer and promoted to Reader. His teaching focuses on inorganic chemistry, including bioinorganic, physical inorganic chemistry, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy. He contributes to modules such as CH3514 Physical Inorganic Chemistry and CH5517 Advanced Physical Inorganic Chemistry, and oversees tutorials in multiple courses.
- Education:
- MChem (Dipl. Chem.) from Goethe University (Frankfurt, Germany) in 2004
- PhD (Dr. phil. nat.) in 2008 from Goethe University under Prof Olav Schiemann and Prof Thomas Prisner
His research develops Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) techniques to study catalysis and structural biophysics. Key projects include investigating protein conformational changes and metal ion binding sites. His lab is part of the EaSTCHEM and Centre of Magnetic Resonance, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals through biomolecular research.
- Recent Awards:
- Dr Albert-Hloch Award (2001)
- Ernst Award (2007)
- Feodor-Lynen Fellowship (2009)
He leads grants from EPSRC, BBSRC, and others, focusing on high-sensitivity EPR applications. His team collaborates internationally, with projects like 'Supramolecular Structure Predictions' and 'Tracing Protein Conformational Changes.'
