Jason Hall is a Professor of Pharmacy Education at the University of Manchester, serving as the Head of the Drug Usage and Pharmacy Practice Group (DUPP) and faculty lead for student fitness to practise. He joined DUPP in 1999 and has extensive experience in pharmacy practice, including roles as a Pharmaceutical Adviser in Health Authorities, community pharmacist, and teacher of pharmacy technicians. His academic qualifications include a PhD from the University of Manchester (2006), MSc from Liverpool John Moores University (1998), and PGCE from Moray House College (1991).
Research interests focus on non-medical prescribing decision-making, teaching professionalism, and interprofessional education. He edits the journal Pharmacy Practice and collaborates with scholars like Darren Ashcroft and Ellen Schafheutle. Awards include Fellowships from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (FRPharmS) and the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA).
Key projects include the 'Mapping the Teaching and Assessment of Professionalism in Pharmacy Education' (2008–2009). He actively participates in academic activities, including the SHS Teaching and Learning Conference and the Advance HE Connect Network grant for Pharmacy Education. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and good health.
Teaching responsibilities include the MPharm program’s 'Pharmacist, Patient, and Public' units and Team-Based Learning modules. He has supervised three students and edited or authored over 90 research outputs, including peer-reviewed articles on interprofessional education and prescribing practices.
