Jason C. Rubenstein, MD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He serves as Co-Director of the Cardiac MRI Program in Radiology and is a member of the Cardiovascular Research Center. Dr. Rubenstein also directs the Ventricular Tachycardia Symposium and serves as Assistant Director for the Electrophysiology Fellowship program.
Dr. Rubenstein's research focuses on the intersection of cardiac electrophysiology and advanced cardiac imaging, particularly cardiac MRI. His work spans multiple areas including arrhythmia mechanisms, cardiac device therapy, and the application of novel imaging techniques to understand cardiac structure and function. He has made significant contributions to understanding MRI safety in patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices and the application of cardiac MRI in various disease states including post-COVID cardiac complications and radiation-induced cardiotoxicity.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong emphasis on the application of cardiac MRI in diverse clinical contexts, particularly in understanding the cardiac effects of COVID-19, optimizing imaging protocols for patients with cardiac devices, and investigating radiation-induced cardiac injury. His work often involves multidisciplinary collaboration across cardiology, radiology, and radiation oncology.
Dr. Rubenstein has received recognition including Alpha Omega Alpha membership, and was a Melvin Judkins Young Investigator Finalist with the American Heart Association. He is an active member of several professional societies including the American College of Cardiology (Fellow), Heart Rhythm Society (Fellow), and Society of Cardiovascular MRI.
As Principal Investigator on multiple research projects, Dr. Rubenstein leads studies on electrophysiology outcomes, cardiac MRI applications, and the safety of MRI in patients with cardiac devices. His MagnaSafe Registry research has been particularly influential in establishing guidelines for MRI in patients with pacemakers and defibrillators.
Dr. Rubenstein maintains an active clinical practice specializing in cardiac electrophysiology with expertise in complex arrhythmia management, cardiac device therapy, and the application of cardiac MRI in electrophysiology.
