Jason Barker

Jason Barker is a Professor of Media Philosophy at The European Graduate School (EGS). Born in 1971, he holds a PhD from Cardiff University under Christopher Norris, focusing on the intersection of theory and leftist politics. His seminal work Alain Badiou: A Critical Introduction (2002) remains a foundational text in Badiou studies. Barker's research spans media ethics, post-Marxist militant politics, and Lacanian psychoanalysis, with a focus on anti-capitalist cinema.

He taught at Middlesex University (2002–2003) and Ecole Sainte-Geneviève (2005–2007), co-founding the GAG group to explore non-philosophical methodologies. His 2011 film Marx Reloaded, analyzing contemporary communism, received critical acclaim and global screenings. Barker’s work critiques discourses of alterity and advocates for a “cultural revolution” to dismantle ideological norms.
