Jasna Lončina

Jasna Lončina is an Associate Professor at the Department of Hygiene and Technology of Animal Origin Food, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Belgrade. She teaches courses on food hygiene, meat inspection, and milk technology.

Her research focuses on

• Antimicrobial effects of plant-derived compounds (e.g., essential oils) on foodborne pathogens
• Microbial stability of meat and dairy products under vacuum/modified atmosphere packaging
• Molecular characterization of microorganisms in traditional cheeses
• Feed additives influencing poultry and pork meat quality

Key trends in her recent publications include applications of thyme, oregano, and cinnamaldehyde for pathogen control in meat, and studies on microbial ecology and antibiotic resistance in dairy products.
