Dr. Jasmin Kirkbride holds dual academic roles as a Lecturer in Publishing at City, University of London and a Humanities Visiting Research Fellow at the University of East Anglia (UEA). Her research focuses on radical hope in climate fiction, dystopian/utopian genre instincts, and intercultural time concepts in environmental literature. She teaches Publishing, Creative Writing, and English Literature at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Dr. Kirkbride earned a PhD in Creative and Critical Writing from UEA (2023), an MA in Creative Writing from UEA (2019), and earlier degrees in Ancient History and Classical Studies from King’s College London. Her peer-reviewed work appears in journals like Green Letters and LOGOS, and she co-edits the Epochs, Ages, and Cycles special edition of Green Letters.
Her research has explored climate crisis themes in haiku poetry (2022 Research-in-Residence, British Haiku Society) and Cormac McCarthy’s The Road. She actively contributes to professional organizations like ASLE-UKI as Secretary and Podcast Co-Host.
Previously, she worked as Publishing Director at Endeavour Media and book trade journalist for BookBrunch, editing works by award-winning authors. She authored a self-help series (Summersdale, 2016–2017) and maintained publishing industry ties during her PhD via CHASE-funded placements.
