Professor Kate Pullinger is a Professor of Creative Writing and Digital Media at Bath Spa University and Director of the Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries (CCCI). She leads research initiatives such as the £6.5m South West Creative Technology Network and the £9m Bristol + Bath Creative R&D Partnership. Her work bridges traditional writing with digital innovation, focusing on ambient literature, transmedia storytelling, and participatory narratives. She directs projects like Amplified Publishing, exploring future publishing across VR/AR, books, and audio.
Her academic qualifications include a PhD by Published Works from De Montfort University. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature (2024) and winner of the Governor General's Award for Fiction (2009). Her novels, such as Forest Green and The Mistress of Nothing, blend historical and personal narratives with digital experimentation.
Her research includes collaborative digital projects like Letter to an Unknown Soldier, which collected 22,000 public letters, and Inanimate Alice, a groundbreaking digital serial. She advises on creative technology hubs like The Studio at Palace Yard Mews and teaches internationally for organizations like the British Council.
