Jared Stanfield is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Michael F. Price College of Business, University of Oklahoma. He previously served as an Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales. His research focuses on corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, and statistical networks, with notable publications in the Journal of Financial Economics and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. Stanfield holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Washington and bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of Utah.
His research examines stakeholder impacts on firms, including labor-creditor dynamics, political connections, and regulatory capture. Recent work explores topics like climate startup investment strategies, labor mobility’s role in innovation, and how firms use confounding events to mitigate data breach fallout. He teaches courses on international financial management, venture capital, and advanced corporate finance.
Stanfield’s research consistently bridges empirical finance with real-world governance and policy implications. His work on government intervention in corporate restructuring (e.g., Chrysler bankruptcy) demonstrates how external stakeholders influence firm outcomes. He also investigates how VC commitment and syndication networks affect investment performance, with findings published in top-tier journals.
