Jared Hauser is Associate Professor of Oboe and Area Coordinator for Woodwinds at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University, where he has been on faculty since 2008. He also serves on the teaching faculties of the Interlochen Center for the Arts and the National Music Festival, contributing to music education at both national and international levels. As a performer, he is affiliated with the Blair Woodwind Quintet, Nashville Opera Orchestra, contemporary ensemble Intersection, and early music group Music City Baroque.

Hauser is a dedicated advocate for new music, having commissioned and premiered works by prominent composers such as Libby Larsen, Augusta Read Thomas, Paul Moravec, and John Harbison. His performance style has been praised by Gramophone Magazine and ArtsNash for its sensitivity and elegance. He performs on modern and historical oboes, showcasing expertise across periods and genres.
His recordings have been released on Naxos, BGR, Koch International, and other labels, and have aired on NPR’s Performance Today, BBC Radio 3, and CBC/Radio Canada. As a Yamaha Performing Artist, he is recognized for his instrumental excellence and pedagogical influence.
Hauser’s orchestral experience includes principal oboe roles with the Orlando Philharmonic, Palm Beach Opera Orchestra, and guest principal appearances with major orchestras including Detroit, Atlanta, and Houston, as well as international engagements in Italy.
