Fatma Daglar serves as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Music within Towson University's College of Fine Arts and Communication. An accomplished oboist, she holds principal positions with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, and Post Classical Ensemble. She is also the oboist of the acclaimed chamber ensemble Zéphyros Winds and has performed with major orchestras including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Richmond Symphony Orchestra.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Music from Istanbul University Conservatory of Music
- Master's Degree and Graduate Performance Diploma in Oboe Performance from the Peabody Conservatory
Performance and Research Interests: Ms. Daglar is an enthusiastic advocate of historical performance practice, having studied baroque oboe at the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute. Her repertoire spans classical to contemporary works, with recent solo highlights including concertos by Mozart, Richard Strauss, John Harbison, Lukas Foss, Vaughn Williams, and Bohuslav Martinu. Critics from the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, and Annapolis Capital consistently praise her 'extraordinary playing', 'dexterous technique with attractive tone', and 'well-rounded tone with beautiful vibrato'.
Ensembles and Affiliations: She performs with the Washington Bach Consort, Ama Deus Ensemble, Brandywine Baroque, Modern Musick, and Bach Sinfonia in addition to her principal orchestra positions. Her international touring includes performances across the United States, Japan, and China, with features on WETA, WBJC, and Voice of America Radio.
