Prof. Janusz Golec is a distinguished Professor at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University's Faculty of Humanities, where he previously served as Director of the Institute of German Studies and Applied Linguistics (2001-2015) and Head of the Department of German Studies (2019-2021). His academic journey includes a PhD (1985) and habilitation (1995) from the University of Warsaw, with promotions to Associate Professor (1999) and full Professor (2003).
His research explores:

- Cultural memory in Polish-German contexts
- Jewish identity in Central European literature
- Galician and Bukovina literary traditions
