Anna Pastuszka

Dr. hab. Anna Pastuszka is an Associate Professor at the Department of German Studies, Institute of Linguistics and Literary Studies, Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin. Her academic focus spans bourgeois realism, memoir literature, travel prose, and the representation of Central and Eastern Europe in literary texts.

Pastuszka's research investigates cultural landscapes in literature, memory's role in post-Shoah and post-migration writing, and the negotiation of identity through spatial transgression. Her recent work emphasizes Karl-Markus Gauß's travelogues, Esther Kinsky's nature writing, and Ryszard Kapuściński's border explorations.

Her scholarly output has been recognized with multiple Rector's Awards from UMCS (2011, 2020, 2022) and the 2018 Silver Medal for Long-Term Service. She has organized international conferences on memory, borders, and Lublin's cultural heritage, while co-editing special volumes on Mitteleuropa in literature.
