Dr. Sabine Egger is Associate Professor in German Studies at Mary Immaculate College, researching memory, place, and identity in German-language literature post-1945. Her work examines Central European cultural histories through concepts of transit, border-crossing, and transnational aesthetics.
Research explores German-Polish cultural transfers, literary representations of 'Eastern Europe', and contemporary Jewish writing. Recent projects analyze train travel as metaphor in postmemorial narratives and Ukrainian exile writers in German literary markets.
Publications include monographs on Johannes Bobrowski's poetry and edited volumes on dance modernism and border aesthetics. Editorial leadership includes special issues on transit spaces and contemporaneity.
She co-directs the Irish Centre for Transnational Studies and supervises doctoral projects on identity construction in European literature. Professional experience includes media production for Deutsche Welle.
