Janne Scheffler

Janne Scheffler is a Researcher in Topic 3 of Research Division 4 (Dynamics of the Ocean Floor / Magmatic and Hydrothermal Systems) at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel. Her work focuses on volcanic processes, marine geohazards, and geochemical analyses of volcanic deposits. Expeditions & Fieldwork: Participated in multiple research cruises (RV Meteor, RV Maria S. Merian) and field expeditions to the Cape Verde Islands (2024) and the Kermadec Arc. Current involvement includes the Aegean Sea expedition (RV Maria S. Merian, 2025).

Labs/Teams: Collaborates within GEOMAR’s Magmatic and Hydrothermal Systems group and contributes to interdisciplinary projects on seafloor dynamics and volcanic hazards.
