Dr. Janica Nordstrom is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Education and Social Work, University of Sydney. She serves as Program Director for the Master of Teaching (Secondary) program and coordinates courses in language, literacy, and diversity. Her research focuses on community language education, heritage languages, and multilingualism, with a particular interest in equity and ethnographic methodologies. Nordstrom holds a PhD from the University of Sydney and prior degrees from the University of Växjö, Sweden.
Her education background includes a PhD (University of Sydney) following MA and MEd degrees from the University of Växjö. Before academia, she taught in secondary schools and adult second language education in Sweden.
Research interests span heritage language education, minority language policy, online pedagogy, and the intersection of identity and multilingualism. Recent work examines digital spaces in language planning and educational equity in community schools.
