Ewa Bergh Nestlog is a Professor in Swedish Language Education at Linnaeus University since 2010 and Vice Dean for Teacher Education at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities since 2021. She holds a Ph.D. (2012) and Licentiate (2009) in Swedish Language Education from Linnaeus University and Växjö University, respectively, and is certified as a subject teacher in Swedish, Religion, and History (Gothenburg University, 1985). Her academic career spans roles as a teacher in primary, secondary, and adult education, followed by leadership positions at the Swedish National Agency for Education and Linnaeus University.
Her research focuses on literacy practices in grades 1–6, multilingualism, and disciplinary literacy through social semiotic and systemic functional linguistics frameworks. She co-directs the Centre for Educational Linguistics (EdLing) and leads projects like 'Disciplinary Literacy – DiLit' (2027), funded by the Swedish Research Council, and the concluded 'Flerspråkiga klassrum i Växjös skolor' (Fläx), emphasizing subject literacy in teacher education and multilingual classrooms.
