Janette Davies

Dr. Janette Davies is Deputy Head of Campus at the Wexford Campus of South East Technological University (SETU), where she also serves as a senior academic. She has over 30 years of experience in academia, industry, and environmental consultancy. Her roles include PhD supervision and active participation in SETU’s Academic Council. She is currently accepting PhD students in areas such as environmental behaviour, waste management, and coastal sustainability.

Education:

• PhD in Environmental Behavioural Modelling, Keele University (2001)
• Certificate in Research Supervision (2009)

Her research focuses on understanding the psychological and social drivers of altruistic and pro-environmental behaviours, particularly in consumer recycling and waste reduction. She aims to develop models that bridge the gap between environmental intentions and actual behaviour. Her work integrates marketing theory with environmental psychology, contributing to sustainable development and public policy.

Her recent publications highlight a consistent engagement with environmental and organisational behaviour themes. From 2002 to 2022, her work evolved from theoretical models of recycling behaviour to applied studies in market orientation and innovative educational partnerships in fisheries and aquaculture. The research spans disciplines including environmental science, marketing, and sustainability education, reflecting an interdisciplinary approach.

Janette has supervised PhD students and is actively involved in research grants and environmental campaigns, particularly those developed for Wexford County Council. Her consultancy work through WoodsDavies Consultancy has supported both public and private sector organisations in the UK and Ireland. She has also contributed to academic governance as an external examiner at TU Dublin (2024) and as a panel speaker at Environ 2019.

She is a key figure in environmental behaviour research at SETU, contributing to institutional research strategy and sustainability initiatives. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to responsible consumption, climate action, and life below water.
