معرفی
Professor Janet Taylor is an Honorary Professor at Edith Cowan University (ECU), holding concurrent roles as Honorary Principal Research Scientist at Neuroscience Research Australia and a conjoint appointment at the University of New South Wales. Her research focuses on motor control mechanisms, particularly the central nervous system's role in muscle fatigue, neuroplasticity, and proprioception. Taylor has secured over $13M in grants and published 160+ peer-reviewed articles with 6800+ citations. She leads the NHMRC Motor Impairment Program Grant, investigating interventions to improve movement impairments.
Her qualifications include a Doctor of Medicine in Physiology and Pharmacology (UNSW 1991), Master of Biomedical Engineering (UNSW 1989), and Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (UNSW 1982). She employs neurophysiological techniques like transcranial magnetic stimulation and peripheral nerve stimulation in human studies.
Research interests include: 1) Central nervous system contributions to muscle fatigue; 2) Plastic changes in motor pathways via artificial stimulation or activity; 3) Body movement and force perception. Recently, her work explores serotonin's role in muscle activation and neuromodulation strategies for motor rehabilitation.
Grants include investigations into motor impairments post injury, ME/CFS symptom mechanisms, and hip osteoarthritis interventions. She co-leads projects on spinal cord priming and neuroplasticity. Her labs focus on advanced electrophysiological and biomechanical assessments.
