Maria Papaiordanidou is a researcher at INSERM U1093 within the Faculty of Sports Science at the University of Bourgogne Franche-Comté. Her work focuses on neuromuscular plasticity through electrical stimulation, examining interactions between the central nervous system and muscles during electrically induced contractions.
- 2022: Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches, University of Bourgogne Franche-Comté
- 2010: PhD in Human Movement Sciences, University Montpellier 1
- 2007: Master’s in Human Movement Sciences, University Montpellier 1
- 2004: MSc in Sport Sciences, Leeds Metropolitan University
- 2001: Bachelor’s in Sport Sciences, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
Her research explores neuroplastic effects of electrical stimulation, both acute and chronic, emphasizing spinal and cortical mechanisms. Current projects aim to optimize stimulation parameters and understand neurophysiological drivers of neuromuscular plasticity, using techniques like surface electromyography and transcranial magnetic stimulation.
Recent studies highlight her focus on torque dynamics, muscle fatigue, and mechanical response modeling during stimulation. She collaborates with researchers such as A. Martin and R. Lepers, contributing to journals like Journal of Applied Physiology and Advanced Healthcare Materials.
