Research Interests:
Kourany’s work lies at the intersection of philosophy of science, feminist theory, and agnotology—the study of ignorance. She investigates how social values shape scientific knowledge and ignorance, critiques the ideal of value-free science, and explores the ethical dimensions of scientific practice. Her current book project, tentatively titled Bacon's Promise, continues this trajectory.
Across more than two decades, her publications reveal a consistent focus on the interplay between epistemic norms and socio-political values in science. Themes include feminist critiques of scientific objectivity, the social construction of ignorance, and the responsibilities of scientists and policymakers in managing knowledge and non-knowledge.
