Anna Geltzer is an Associate Teaching Professor at the Reilly Center for Science, Technology, and Values within the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame. She serves as Assistant Director of the Reilly Center, Director of the Science, Technology and Values (STV) program, and Director of the Dual Degree Program in Engineering and Arts & Letters.
Her educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Science & Technology Studies from Cornell University (2012)
- M.A. from New York University (2004)
- B.S. from Brooklyn College (1999)
Professor Geltzer's research centers on Science and Technology Studies (STS), critically examining how political, social, and economic contexts shape biomedical science and clinical practice. Her work investigates the production of scientific evidence, methodological validity, and power dynamics in medical research through frameworks of biopolitics and social studies of science.
At Notre Dame, she teaches the STV core course, Evolution of Scientific Medicine, and Global Biopolitics while supervising undergraduate research and directing reading courses in science, technology, and medicine studies.
