Associate Professor Janet Dzator is an applied economist at the University of Newcastle's Newcastle Business School, specializing in macroeconomic policy, health economics, development economics, and operations research. She holds leadership roles including Director of the Centre for Africa Research, Engagement and Partnerships (CARE-P), and has served as Head of Discipline for Economics, Politics, and International Relations. Her research focuses on energy sustainability, gender equity, and disaster economics, with a particular emphasis on sub-Saharan Africa.

Research Interests: Janet's work addresses macroeconomic policy, health systems optimization, poverty reduction through ICT, and the socio-economic impacts of natural disasters. She leads projects funded by the Australia Africa Universities Network (AAUN) targeting economic development and health challenges.
Grants & Awards: Key recognitions include the 2024 University Excellence Award for External Engagement, 2016 Teaching Excellence Award, and multiple grants from NHMRC, Cancer Council NSW, and UNDP/WHO.
