Janet Curtis is a Lecturer in Paramedicine at the School of Nursing, Paramedicine and Healthcare Sciences, Charles Sturt University. With a 17-year career as an Intensive Care Paramedic (ICP) at St John New Zealand, she transitioned to academia, teaching at Monash University (2015-2019) before joining CSU in 2019. Her roles include Workplace Learning Lead for Paramedicine and contributions to graduate programs covering cardiology, mental health, and extended care paramedicine.

Research Interests: Janet’s work bridges paramedicine and health promotion, focusing on:
- Enhancing paramedics’ physical and mental wellness
- Improving patient care outcomes through evidence-based practices
- Addressing excited delirium syndrome and psychiatric emergencies
- Advocating for gender equity and LGBTQIA+ inclusion in EMS
- Community health initiatives in rural and underserved areas
Recent Research Trends: Her publications (2022-2024) emphasize neuropsychiatric emergencies, gender dynamics in paramedicine, and workplace wellness. Collaborative work with Dr. Sengstock on excited delirium syndrome highlights clinical and pharmacological intersections in emergency care.
