Jane T. Bertrand is a Professor at Tulane University, holding the Neal A. and Mary Vanselow Endowed Chair, and joint appointment in the Departments of Health Policy & Management and International Health & Sustainable Development. She is Core Faculty at the School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine and affiliated with the Stone Center for Latin American Studies. Her career spans over four decades, including leadership at Johns Hopkins (2002–2009) and continuous tenure at Tulane since 1979.

Her research focuses on family planning programs and HIV prevention in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America, particularly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She specializes in program evaluation, behavior change communication, and contraceptive use trends. Fluent in French/Spanish, she has extensive field experience in over 15 countries including Guatemala, DRC, and Morocco.
Recent publications analyze contraceptive method mix among youth, traditional contraceptive use patterns, and program integration in nursing education. Her work bridges policy, implementation, and cultural factors in global health.
