Jane Hunt

Dr. Jane Hunt is a Senior Lecturer and Course Lead for the Counselling and Psychotherapy MSc programme at the School of Social Sciences and Professions, London Metropolitan University. With extensive experience as an integrative counsellor, academic, and researcher, she has worked across higher education, NHS, private, and voluntary sectors. Previously, she held leadership roles including Faculty Head at Metanoia Institute and Senior Lecturer at the University of Roehampton.

Her research focuses on the intersection of psychology with religion, spirituality, and gender, particularly examining relational psychotherapies and theological constructs in therapy. She employs qualitative methodologies to explore underrepresented perspectives in mental health practice.

Her publications (2013–2024) reveal consistent themes: religion/spirituality in therapeutic contexts (e.g., training, cultural imperialism), psychoanalytic interpretations of religious narratives, and transgender experiences in counselling. Methodologically, she emphasizes qualitative approaches and UK-specific healthcare dynamics.
