Jane Deayton

Dr Jane Deayton is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in HIV at the Blizard Institute, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. She is also an Honorary Consultant Physician in Infection and Immunity at Barts and the London NHS Trust, where she operates a specialized clinical service for HIV-2 patients.

Her research focuses on HIV virology and immunology, particularly opportunistic infections like cytomegalovirus (CMV), HIV co-infections with herpesviruses, and disease progression biomarkers. She leads studies on HIV-2 epidemiology, elite viral control, and neurocognitive impairments associated with HIV.

Recent publications highlight her work on HAART efficacy in suppressing CMV, immune reconstitution dynamics, and predictors of clinical outcomes in HIV/CMV co-infections. These studies span virology, immunology, and clinical epidemiology.

Jane contributes to education as the lead for undergraduate Infection and Immunity teaching at Queen Mary and through postgraduate HIV education programs. She is actively involved in collaborative research networks like NELNET and ACHIEV2E, and advises on herpes simplex virus management.
