Jana Macalik is a tenured Associate Professor at OCAD University's Faculty of Design and serves as the Director of the Global Centre for Climate Action. She has held significant administrative roles, including Acting Dean (2022–2023), and previously led academic and research initiatives at NSCAD University as Interim Provost and President (2023–2025). Her work bridges design practice, academic leadership, and systems thinking, focusing on equity-driven innovation and discursive spaces.

As an NCIDQ-certified and LEED ID+C accredited designer, her creative practice spans cultural exhibition design, branding, and spatial storytelling for institutions like Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership and Aldrich Pears Associates.
Jana actively contributes to academic discourse through presentations at conferences such as the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education and symposiums like Discursive Space (2013) and Urban Ecologies (2015). She co-curated alternative design exhibitions at Toronto's Gladstone Hotel and served on the editorial board of Curator: The Museum Journal.
