Ala Roushan is an Associate Professor (tenured) at OCAD University's Faculty of Design and holds a concurrent research position at the University of Tokyo. Her work bridges curatorial practice with academic research, focusing on artificial environments, contemporary digital culture, and architecture's relationship with planetary ecology. She leads the SSHRC-funded project Shaping Atmospheres, examining air, architecture, and environmental impacts.
- Education: M.A. in Advanced Architectural Design from Städelschule, Frankfurt.
Her research manifests through exhibitions, publications, and public art initiatives. Notable projects include BREATHLESS at The Power Plant (featuring an experimental pavilion and performances) and co-curation of projects with Slavs & Tatars via SUGAR, a curatorial platform exploring public art. She also co-founded Flip Project Space in Naples.
Her interdisciplinary approach integrates spatial design, environmental science, and cultural critique to address urgent ecological and urban questions.
