He holds academic positions including Associate Head of Research and is affiliated with the Faculty of Science's Equity, Diversity & Inclusion committee and Veterinary Pathology Diagnostic Services.
Education: MVDr (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, 1999) from the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno, Czech Republic; PhD in Parasitology (2002) from the same institution; GradCertEd (Higher Education) (2008) from the University of Sydney.
Research focuses on the biology of parasites with medical/veterinary importance, combining molecular techniques with historical parasitology to redefine species, describe biodiversity, and understand host-parasite relationships. Key areas include microbiome interactions, diagnostic methods, and parasite evolution. He advocates for virtual microscopy and technology integration in veterinary education.
Teaching includes courses in veterinary disease principles, research methodology, and laboratory diagnostics. Active in professional associations such as the Australian Society for Parasitology and the Odile Bain Memorial Prize evaluation panel.
His work bridges parasitology and conservation, with studies on mountain gorillas and invasive species. He leads efforts in precision parasite management and vector biology, emphasizing One Health principles.
