معرفی
Dr. Umer Chaudhry is a Research Fellow in Molecular Parasitology at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Surrey, UK. He holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Veterinary Sciences, Pakistan, and advanced degrees in Veterinary Parasitology, Molecular Biology, and Biomedicine from institutions in Sweden and Canada. His PhD from the University of Calgary focused on Molecular Parasitology. Prior to Surrey, he worked at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist and Visiting Faculty member.
Dr. Chaudhry's research focuses on developing high-throughput diagnostic tools for parasitic infections in livestock and humans, including 'haemoprotobiome,' 'tremabiome,' and 'nemabiome' technologies. His work emphasizes antiparasitic drug resistance mechanisms, population genetics of parasites, and vaccine antigen discovery. He has led projects on quantifying protozoan and fluke infections, analyzing multiplicity of infection (MOI) in parasites, and constructing genetic linkage maps for drug resistance loci.
In teaching, he contributes to parasitology modules, veterinary research methodologies, and anatomy courses for veterinary students. He has supervised numerous PhD, MSc, and undergraduate students globally, emphasizing research skills and publication co-authorship.
His recent work includes studies on Plasmodium species detection, Trypanosoma surveillance, and the genetic basis of drug resistance in parasites such as Theileria annulata and Haemonchus contortus. He collaborates internationally on genomic and transcriptomic analyses of parasitic worms.
