Jan O Jonsson is Professor of Sociology at Nuffield College, University of Oxford, and director of the Swedish Level-of-Living Survey since 1998. He serves as Swedish PI for the international CILS4EU study on ethnic integration of young people.
His research focuses on social stratification mechanisms including educational inequality, intergenerational mobility, ethnic integration, and child poverty. Recent work examines cultural value gaps between immigrant and majority populations, the immigrant paradox in mental health, and poverty's social consequences.
Articles reveal trends in global educational mobility, ethnic segregation in schools, and longitudinal poverty analysis across economic cycles. His comparative studies span Sweden, the US, Germany, and the Netherlands.
