Dr. Jamie Snyder is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology at the University of Wyoming, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. She previously held the same rank at the University of West Florida. Her academic background includes a PhD in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati (2011), an MS from the same institution (2007), and a BS in Psychology from Northern Kentucky University (2005).
Dr. Snyder’s research focuses on victimization prediction/prevention, fear of crime dynamics, policing practices, and criminological theory applications. She has pioneered studies on victimization among college students, exploring risk factors like ADHD and gender identity, as well as innovative crime prevention strategies. Her work also examines body-worn cameras’ impact on police interactions and the efficacy of high-impact pedagogical practices in criminal justice education.
Her recent publications highlight emerging trends in national park safety, financial fraud victimization, and intersectional victimization experiences. She actively contributes to the American Society of Criminology’s Division of Victimology (DOV), where she chairs the Teaching and Research Committee to advance victimology education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
