Jessica Huff serves as Assistant Professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Senior Researcher at Arizona State University's Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety. Her dual appointments bridge academic research with practical crime prevention initiatives.
Education:
- Ph.D. Criminology & Criminal Justice - Arizona State University (2020)
- M.A. Criminal Justice - University of Nevada, Reno (2015)
- B.A. Criminal Justice - University of Nevada, Reno (2013)
Her research centers on policing practices, particularly examining body-worn camera implementation, racial/ethnic disparities in police encounters, and neighborhood-level crime dynamics. Current projects include a multi-site evaluation of the Place Network Investigations violence reduction strategy across seven US police agencies and analysis of de-policing effects on neighborhood crime patterns. Methodologically, she specializes in experimental designs including randomized controlled trials and multilevel modeling of police-citizen interactions.
Publication analysis reveals consistent focus on body-worn camera impacts (2022-2025), gender dynamics in policing (2023-2024), and neighborhood-crime relationships (2023-2025). Recent work increasingly incorporates machine learning approaches for crime pattern detection and emphasizes community-centered policing strategies.
Scientific Recognition:
- NIJ LEADS Academic program participant
Her collaborative research with police agencies spans multiple federal grants including BJA-funded body-worn camera trials in Phoenix PD and CDC's National Violent Death Reporting System implementation in Arizona. Current projects involve partnerships with Omaha's restorative justice diversion program and multi-city ballistics intelligence evaluations. She maintains active research teams focusing on women in policing (through IAWP collaborations) and crime gun intelligence systems.
