Jamie Powell is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute's School of Art, where she explores the boundaries of painting through experimental processes like dyeing, braiding, weaving, and stitching raw canvas. Her work transforms domestic gestures into large-scale three-dimensional objects, influenced by movements such as Arte Povera, Pattern and Decoration, and Feminism.

Her research focuses on integrating textile techniques into contemporary painting, emphasizing themes of reuse and materiality. She has exhibited extensively in galleries like Freight + Volume (New York) and David & Schweitzer (Brooklyn), with a solo show titled "Love Is Alive" opening at The Painting Center in May 2024 and another, "Stand Up Straight Girl!" scheduled for 2024-2025 at Pratt Manhattan Lobby Gallery.
Notable awards include grants from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, and Pratt Institute. She is represented by The Painting Center in New York City and Peter Anthony Fine Art in Charleston, SC.
Currently, Powell divides her time between teaching at Pratt, serving as a Teaching Artist for the Studio in a School Foundation, and co-teaching the Lincoln Center Summer Intensive Boot Camp. She resides in a lakeside town 35 miles from New York City and Brooklyn.
